JOEY VICE

By age 12, Joey Vice knew he wanted a career in performance. With his parents’ support, he began homeschooling to focus on dance full-time.

“I didn’t have a normal teenage life — no prom, no constant hanging out with friends,” Vice says. “But I was so committed to my career, I gave up a lot for it.”

Despite being shy offstage, Vice says performing brings out a bolder version of himself. “My mom says I become two feet taller,” he jokes.

After high school, he dedicated his summer to dance intensives, training up to 12 hours a day across the country. Then came the life-changing moment — an email from Cirque du Soleil offering him the role of the Trickster in Kooza.

At 18, he moved to Quebec to train at Cirque headquarters, working closely with coaches to bring his unique interpretation to the character. He’s now spent two years performing the high-energy role, onstage for 70% of each show, with intense backstage costume changes.

Once the tour ended in October 2024, Vice moved to Southern California, where he pursues his Dance career and teaches at Dance Lab OC.

Vice continues to train, experiment with new movements, and dream bigger. “Dance is such an art — and I’m a really creative person."

Joey is excited to choreograph and teach another generation of creative dancers.
